Sweaters for The Coldest Weather

Scroll down to content

There is just something about a nice cozy sweater that makes the winter do-able. Here in the north country you can find them almost anywhere, but quite honestly I find the sweaters I love the best at Marshall’s or TJ Maxx. BUT I have to have a conversation with myself before I go into either of these stores, and/or HomeGoods….. “Kimberly, you know you are going to spend $100 here, no matter what you go in for, this is what you will end up with, is it in the budget this week?” Every. Single. Time.

During Christmas I find the BEST stocking stuffers at these stores. Little things for young and old, men and women, boys and girls, that I wouldn’t find anywhere else, and that I wouldn’t be looking for! Anything from cashmere socks to phone case covers by designers to lay flat cell phone chargers to really fun kitchen tools. Seriously, I can’t get enough of these stores. Have you noticed though that there are different things in different stores and some are ‘better’ than others? For example even though it’s farther north and a smaller town Cadillac, Michigan has an outstanding TJ Maxx. While the one 28th Street in Grand Rapids is hit or miss. The ones in Florida tend to carry different brands than the ones here in Michigan, it’s not unusual to find Lilly Pulitzer in Florida, but never here.

So back to the sweaters. This first one I absolutely fell in love with for the Christmas season. It’s got a hint of holiday style to it without screaming ‘ugly Christmas sweater’, plus pairing it with grey would take then Christmasy feel right out of it.and if you can believe this, even though I’ve worn it several times, I only have the top shot of it, what in the world?

This second one I found at Marshalls well before Christmas, but waited until the new year to wear it. Usually I would pair grey with black, but I just love the way the navy makes they grey pop.

Both of these were paired with some amazing pants I found there as well from a brand called Philosophy. You normally find Philosophy in Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack, so to find at a Marshall’s was a bonus!

What’s your favorite find at TJ Maxx, Marshall’s or HomeGoods?
