You would never, never know this pup went through what he has gone through. Squamous Cell Carcinoma at 4 months old with a partial jaw removal at 5 months.
He is 7 months old now and weighs 80 pounds. Chasing tennis balls is his very favorite pastime, when he’s not taunting and wrestling with his 10 year old lab/husky mix brother. He wiggles his whole body when he gets excited, which is almost anytime he’s not sleeping. He goes from sleeping to full awake wiggling in a nanosecond at the slightest hint of someone moving in the house or heaven forbid a dog walks in front of our house!
He loves, with capital letters, his daddy with such passion and enthusiasm I sometimes feel like just a bystander (or the disciplinarian if truth be told). He cuddles, drapes himself, and gaze’s lovingly into Marks eyes!! He knows I won’t get out of bed early just to feed him, but Mark will. So he hops up on the bed, slinks up between us, drapes his big head over Marks shoulder and wraps his two giant paws around the rest of him. His next move is to heavy sigh repeatedly until Mark gets up to feed him and then he acts like he’s SO SURPRISED that he is getting up to feed him. It’s like the greatest moment ever!
Hank eats regular Purina Puppy Chow but I supplement that with antioxidant rich foods that are safe for dogs: sweet potatoes, kale, blueberries, carrots, green beans and broccoli. Just a tablespoon or two in with his food. I also give him “Golden Paste”, turmeric and coconut oil mix, and CBD oil twice a day.
It’s unknown why Hank developed cancer at the age of 4 months, which is almost unheard of. But I feel it’s my job to give him whatever help I can give him to stay healthy.
So until the next time, we are going to look into obedience training. Pray for us, he’s strong and wants to show all his dog friends his enthusiasm level!
