Which CBD Oil To Choose

Scroll down to content

Most of you know, and it was the subject of my blog a few weeks ago, that I have been doing some FBI level research into CBD oil. Hank, the yellow lab pup, was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma at 4 months old, so I started looking into how to help this little (said with amusement, as he is now almost 7 months old and 70 pounds) guy live a full and healthy life. I have this little regimen of antioxidant, dog safe foods I add to his kibble daily and everywhere I read and everyone I talks to mentioned CBD oil

Whaaaaat? Marijuana for my dog? Actually NO! CBD is made out of hemp, and although on the family tree line with marijuana, hemp does not contain THC ( or at least has to have less than .03%) so there for has no psychological effects.

RATHER, CBD oil (extracted from hemp) works the Endocannabinoid System, which, holy guacamole, affects all of this:

• Appetite

• Digestion

• Immune function

• Inflammation, including neuroinflammation

• Mood

• Sleep

• Reproduction/fertility

• Motor control

• Temperature regulation

• Memory

• Pain

• Pleasure/reward

Alright, after reading a million and one articles, the next question was: WHICH CBD oil because apparently there are 9437 different companies out there and they all have different claims! Here is what I looked for:

THE PRODUCT

• Organic, grown in the US & processed in the US, in known soil by known producers.

• Absorption rate: Oil & water don’t mix, remember high school science class?)

• A full spectrum hemp oil extract, known as cannabidiol, or CBD. While CBD has known health benefits, the reality is that other CBD-isolate products cannot benefit the body like our phytocannabinoid-rich full spectrum hemp oil.

THE COMPANY

• Cares about the quality of the product

• Socially responsible

• Takes good care of their people

We have a winner folks. The company is Zilis and the CBD oil I’m going with is UltraCell.

Do you ever start on a path and each step

If the way stop and think “huh, that’s a God thing”…. when I started all of this research, was the same week that Hank has his surgery ($6000), we had to have our big old Maple tree in the backyard taken out ($1500) and both kids needed tires on vehicles ($1100). OUCH! So a little extra $$ added TO the budget would be nice. Another day I was scrolling through Instagram and a friend of a friend popped up with her brand her Jeep that she had earned from her CBD Oil businessAND she lives in Rosemary Beach (30a, one of my favorite places on earth, and where I “accidentally” rented a white Jeep- which I fell in love with- earlier this spring)

I was intrigued. The video store in town put a big sign out on the road CBD oil sold here…. It was interesting how I was tripping over this constantly. So after all of my research I jumped in with both feet! No looking back. Katie says there is still some stigma attached to CBD oil, I just look at it as an opportunity to inform and share.

Come on, look at me: red/white/&blue, military family, veteran, catholic school secretary, married with 5 kids, liberally conservative…. would I jump onboard if I didn’t believe? I’m a firm supporter of a mix of western and holistic medicines. Science gives us SO much, but so does the earth. I’m super excited to help people with “what ails them”.
